Welcome to The Bermuda and Marlowe Practice
Welcome to the Bermuda and Marlowe GP practice. We are proud to offer the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare to all our 14,000 patients. All our staff work in healthcare because we want to help people.
We run many clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes and offer a wide variety of other medical services including antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations, well-person check-ups and a travel clinic.
In order to make sure that you see the right clinician each time our receptionists need to know whether you have an urgent medical problem or an ongoing condition. Please help us help you efficiently by answering all their questions. Anything you say is treated confidentially.
CHANGES TO OUR CLINICAL SYSTEM - RESTRICTIONS FOR PERIOD 27 JUNE - 11 JULY
WITH EFFECT FROM 5 PM ON 27 JUNE WE WILL BE UNABLE TO REGISTER ANY NEW PATIENTS ON OUR SYSTEM. YOU ARE WELCOME TO COMPLETE THE PAPERWORK BUT IT WILL NOT BE PROCESSED UNTIL 11 JULY ONWARDS. THIS IS DUE TO THE ELECTRONIC RECORD FACILITY BEING UNAVAILABLE WHILST WE MOVE CLINICAL SYSTEMS.
WE WILL ONLY BE CARRYING OUT URGENT BLOOD TESTS SUCH AS INRS BETWEEN 27 JUNE AND 4 JULY. THIS IS AGAIN DUE TO OUR ELECTRONIC RESULTS FACILITY HAVING TO BE SWITCHED OFF WHILST THE CHANGEOVER IS CARRIED OUT
WE APOLOGISE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE BUT THE NEW SYSTEM WILL BENEFIT ALL WHEN IT IS IN PLACE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
CHANGES TO HOSPITAL CONTRACTS
TESTS REQUESTED BY THE HOSPITAL:
Please note that if the Hospital requests that you have a test carried out this must be arranged by the Hospital and not the Practice. This includes any requests for blood tests. All results must be obtained from the Hospital and not through the Practice.
This is part of the Hospital contract.
If you have been an inpatient for any reason and require a Fit Note (after 7 days self-certification) this must be provided by the Hospital for the duration of your recovery or until you have a follow up appointment at the Hospital. Please do not contact the Practice to request a Fit Note as these will be declined and you will be directed back to the Hospital.
The Hospital is also responsible for ensuring you have sufficient medication upon discharge (usually 7 days) unless a shorter period is clinically necessary.
MISSED HOSPITAL APPOINTMENTS:
If you are automatically discharged from the Hospital after missing one appointment it is the Hospital's responsibility to organise another appointment for you. Please do not request a re-referral from the Practice as this will be declined and you will be directed to the Hospital.
NOTE: The Hospital can now make an onward referral for patients if it is directly related to the complaint or condition which caused the original referral. There is no need to return to the Practice to request another referral. GP referral is only required for unrelated conditions.
